Staff Regulation & Resilience Capability Day
A Restorative Professional Development Day for Teams Carrying High Emotional Load
Many teams work in environments where they regularly support people experiencing stress, trauma, or emotional pressure. Over time, this sustained demand can affect focus, communication, and wellbeing.
The Staff Regulation & Resilience Capability Day supports teams with practical tools to understand stress responses, regulate their nervous system, and return to clear, values-aligned action.
Grounded in mātauranga Māori and contemporary nervous system science, the experience introduces the AROHĀ™ Method — a practical framework that helps people recognise their internal state, regulate through breath, and respond with greater clarity and steadiness.
Rather than lecture-style training, the day is restorative, experiential, and practical, supporting both learning and genuine reset for teams.
The Experience
9:30am – 4:30pm
Up to 20 participants
Held at Pūtara Star Loghouse, Te Puna, overlooking Mauao.
The day combines nervous system education, practical regulation tools, and hands-on cultural learning to create a meaningful and engaging team experience.
Morning — Regulation & Grounding
10:00am – 12:00pm
Facilitated by Julia Wikeepa
Founder, Hā Habit | Nervous System Regulation Facilitator
The morning session introduces the AROHĀ™ Method, a culturally grounded framework for emotional regulation informed by te ao Māori and contemporary nervous system science.
Participants are guided through:
• understanding stress through body states
• recognising activation, protection, and restoration patterns
• practical breath-based regulation tools
• gentle integration practices for everyday application
The tone is accessible, grounded, and experiential.
Participants receive access to the AROHĀ™ Regulation System resources to support continued learning and tools that can also be used with clients or whānau.
Lunch
12:00pm – 1:00pm
Self-catered.
Kitchen facilities are available onsite.
Afternoon — Rise Like Rewena
1:00pm – 3:00pm
Facilitated by a guest hauora facilitator from the Hā Habit network
In the afternoon session, participants explore resilience and collective wellbeing through the traditional practice of making rewena.
This workshop blends science, mātauranga Māori, and hands-on learning to explore connection, care, and shared wellbeing.
Participants will:
• create their own rewena bug
• reflect on resilience through shared practice
• take home their rewena starter and bread
The session is practical, engaging, and enjoyable, with reflection naturally woven throughout the experience.
Integration & Recovery Time (Optional)
3:00pm – 4:30pm
Participants may remain onsite to allow learning to settle before returning to their roles.
Facilities available include:
• sauna
• spa
• cold plunge
• wharenui and lounge spaces
This integration time allows the nervous system to settle before returning to everyday responsibilities.
What Participants Leave With
